Labor Caucus Co-Chairs Respond to Illegal Firing of NLRB Member Gwynne Wilcox

January 28, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressional Labor Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Mark Pocan (D-WI), Donald Norcross (D-NJ), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), and Steven Horsford (D-NV) released the following statement in response to President Trump’s illegal firing of National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) member Gwynne Wilcox:

“Donald Trump’s overnight firing of National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Member Gwynne Wilcox is an unprecedented and illegal attack on the NLRB. This firing violates both the National Labor Relations Act and longstanding Supreme Court precedent, and it is clearly intended to undercut workers’ ability to organize unions and reverse the Board’s efforts over recent years to effectively protect workers. This firing also renders the Board unable to issue new decisions, meaning that workers subjected to illegal union-busting will not be able to receive the justice they deserve.

We call on President Trump to immediately reinstate Member Wilcox. If he refuses to do so, we are committed to utilizing all available tools to investigate and overturn this unprecedented action.”
