Labor Caucus Co-Chairs’ Statement on Labor Day 2025

September 1, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressional Labor Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Donald Norcross (NJ-01), Steven Horsford (NV-04), Debbie Dingell (MI-06), and Mark Pocan (WI-02) released the following statement:

“Labor day is a time to celebrate working people and the hard-fought gains of the labor movement, such as the 40-hour work week and workplace health and safety laws.

Yet rather than build on those achievements, the Trump Administration is engaging in a war on workers, from stripping collective bargaining rights from hardworking federal employees, to jeopardizing union construction jobs by killing clean energy projects, and jamming through a budget bill that cuts services for working people to provide tax cuts for billionaires.

But working people are standing up and fighting back. Workers are still organizing for a voice on the job and forming new unions, while public support for unions remains near record highs. In Congress, the Labor Caucus is fighting to ensure that every worker has a good job with a living wage, safe working conditions, and a free and fair choice to join a union.

To all workers across the country, thank you for all you do each and every day. Working people built this country, and that's why we'll always have your back. Happy Labor Day to all.”
