Labor Caucus Statement on Passing of USW President Conway
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Labor Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Steven Horsford (D-NV), Donald Norcross (D-NJ), and Mark Pocan (D-WI) released the following statement on the passing of United Steelworkers (USW) International President, Tom Conway:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of United Steelworkers (USW) International President Tom Conway. Since he first joined USW Local 6787 in 1978, Tom distinguished himself as a champion of the labor movement and a skilled contract negotiator, fighting for better pay and working conditions for USW members across the country.
"During his tenure as International President, Tom rose to the occasion and pushed to expand the labor movement to new industries, fought to protect fair trade and American jobs, and led the USW in achieving some of its greatest organizing victories. Our thoughts are with Tom’s family, friends, and union members during this difficult time.”
